TC magazine is a quarterly magazine for teenagers ages 13-19. Its mission is to provide a positive, faith-based approach to the issues teens face and the culture in which they live. TC’s goal is to be a relevant, challenging and interesting magazine to teens from all sorts of backgrounds.
Between 60 percent and 85 percent of the magazine is written by staff or assignment. Those interested in free-lance writing should first become familiar with the style of TC by reading through at least one issue of the magazine.
what we are looking for:
Teenage Writers: Because we want teenagers to feel they have an ownership in TC, we love teen writers. Topics can be personal stories of overcoming obstacles, faith struggles, youth groups, or any number of lighter subjects such as sports, health, humor and entertainment.
Interviews and First Person Stories: Stories in an interview form or originating from an interview are desirable. Interviews can be with individual teens, youth groups, musicians, athletes, etc. who have a unique story to share.
Departments/Columns: We regularly run articles about college, style, entertainment, humor and things to do on the weekend. Although these departments are almost all staff-written, we will consider unique queries or submissions.
what we are not looking for:
Fiction articles: In our experience, teens would rather read about real people than fictional characters. TC does not publish fictional stories, even if they are based on real events.
Preachy Articles: Articles that talk down to teens or contain excessive or misused Christian lingo will not be considered. A non-Christian teen should be able to read any article in TC. All articles should have a conversational tone. Articles should be a launching pad for teens to have further thought or discussion — we want to help teens think.
submissions and queries: Query or send complete manuscripts by e-mail to editor@tcmagazine.org. Articles should be 450-1000 words and sent as a Word attachment. Manuscripts may also be sent to:
